Simple cleaning hacks to make your home sparkle this spring... [WATCH] from the Today Show

Did you know a common fruit can transform your microwave in just five minutes?

By TODAY | 21 September 2021 | Original Article

The hack was tested out by Today reporter Aislin Kriukelis who put viral cleaning techniques to the test with the help of Gold Coast mum Kat Springer, who runs "The Organised Housewife" blog.

Simply place a humble lemon and water in a microwave for five minutes and food particles will just glide off with a cloth. No scrubbing required.

Similarly the citrus can be used to remove limescale from the bottom of a kettle. "Once the lemon juice and pieces are inside fill with water, bring to the boil and let it sit for 30 minutes. After a little scrub it looks brand new," Aislin said.

To spring clean a sink, Springer said she pops bicarb, cream cleanser and boiling water in the basin."That sanitises it really well," she explained, showing how the mixture foams through the sink.

Springer then went on to share her trick for getting dust off your ceiling fans."Over winter that dust sits and collects and I have this pillow case, you put it over the blades and as you're swiping it off all the dust is in the pillow case not on the furniture," she explained.

Other quick hacks includes using silicone gloves to remove pet hair and shaving cream on the shower mirror to prevent it from fogging.
